Dende is a Namek child who was instructed by the Eldest Namek to explore the universe with the Spices.  Since they knew that Dende would be mixed up in the fight with evil, Pico is teaching him to fight.  Dende may look timid, but he's becoming a formidable warrior under Pico's training.  When not battling or training, he plays with the other children of the Spice Club.  In the F-Zero X Grand Prix, Dende drives the Death Anchor.
