Spinal is a skeleton warrior.  He was first brought to life for the first Killer Instinct tournament in 1998.  However, towards the end of the tournament, he was destroyed by Chief Thunder.  When Ultratech was thrown 2,000 years back in time, the warlord Gargos resurrected Spinal again.  That time, Spinal had no memories of his past life.  He had no memories of KI1 either.  Well, Spinal survived the 2,000 years when he found the Spice Club.  He decided to join to reunite with his old pal the Cryptkeeper.  Spinal is quite a shy guy, who panics in every bad situation.  He screams quite a bit.

Since fighting Black Shadow, Spinal has discovered a mental link with him.  Spinal and Black Shadow think each other's thoughts and feel each other's emotions, and it drives them both crazy.  The cause of the link is unknown.  His most memorable battle is when he and Arbin were stranded on Arturus during an eclipse that Black Shadow had created.  Spinal fought valiantly to defend Arbin when he was severely injured.

In the F-Zero X Grand Prix, Spinal drives the Little Wyvern, hand-picked by Fulgore himself.  Spinal doesn't mind, though.
