After five years in alliance with the Power Rangers, the Spices leave to take on Black Shadow, the new Grand Monarch of evil.  They find a space colony called Arturus and protect its citizens from Black Shadow’s attacks.  A New Evil tells that story.

During the battles, Spinal discovers that he has some sort of telepathic link with Black Shadow, in which they are able to read each other’s thoughts and feel each other’s emotions (“Arbin Gordon Unplugged”).  Black Shadow uses the link to his advantage at first, but later decides that he can’t stand it, and tries to eliminate Spinal (“Endless Nightmare”/“Prisoner of Fear”).  However, the Spices manage to rescue the timid skeleton warrior from the dark lord’s clutches.

When Black Shadow freezes the Spices along with the Arturus citizens, Pico looks back on his life, realizing how his friends have changed him (“Pico: Past and Present”).  Until then, he hadn’t realized how dark and lonely his past was.  This inspired him to save the colony from the cold fate.

Then Black Shadow tries to trap the Spices on their ship by creating an eclipse to cut off the solar power (“Enemy of the Shadows”).  However, Spinal and Arbin are on the colony when the eclipse starts.  During that battle, Arbin is badly injured and eventually dies.

While Mighty Gazelle devises a plan to revive Arbin as a cyborg, Black Shadow decides to flood Arturus with sewer water (“Mighty Gazelle’s Mission”).  Then, tired of his link with Black Shadow, Spinal goes to the planet Aninias to seek Canis Lupus, a powerful wizard who is quite fond of wolves (“Spinal’s Quest”).

Just in time for Hallie’s birthday, the Spices meet Yamcha and Chiaotzu, who also happen to be misfits (“Hallie’s Surprise”).  They offer to join the team, but they must fight a battle with the Spices before the membership becomes official.  While waiting for that battle, the Spices meet Vegeta, who also wants to join (“New Challengers”).  However, he wants to take over as the leader and challenges Jenny’s position.  During the battle, Black Shadow captures Jenny, claiming to be her father!  When Vegeta rescues her, Jenny talks him out of challenging her, and he, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu become official Spice members.

Vegeta and Pico obviously don’t like each other, as they’re performing practical jokes on each other (“Practical Joke War: Pico Vs. Vegeta”).  The rivalry goes on as two more Spice candidates show up, named Jade and Jeice (“True Colors”).  One of Pico’s practical jokes include hypnotizing Vegeta into thinking that he’s a woman (“Woman for a Day”).  Meanwhile, the Ginyu Force arrives to try to talk Jeice into returning to them, but Jeice will have nothing to do with them anymore.

Back home, Astronema learns of Black Shadow’s existence and sets out to join him (“The Gathering”).  The Power Rangers follow, knowing of the danger that would create if Astronema and Black Shadow were to join forces.  Astronema does join Black Shadow, and the Rangers are reunited with the Spices!  Black Shadow and Astronema decide to be married, which spells bad news for Jenny, because Astronema is her mother.  Luckily, the Rangers and Spices manage to stop the wedding, and Astronema flies back home.  The Rangers and Spices say goodbye again.

Vowing to pay Jenny back for spoiling the wedding, Black Shadow captures and tortures her (“Double Trouble”).  At the same time, the Ginyu Force uses Spinal as a hostage to get Jeice back on the team.  Yamcha saves Jenny while Jeice rejoins the Ginyus....for a few hours.  He easily outsmarts them by sneaking out at midnight.

      Then Vegeta decides to avenge his lost Saiyan race by challenging the evil Frieza, dragging a timid Spinal behind him (“Vegeta’s Naughty Story”).  But Frieza is much to powerful for them as well as the rest of the Spice Club.  It was up to Jenny to defeat him while she had the flu.  During that adventure, the Spices meet Dende, a Namek child.  After Frieza is defeated, the Eldest Namek, Guru, instructs Dende to explore the universe with the Spices.

      Knowing that Dende would be caught in the battles between the Spices and Black Shadow, Pico decides to train Dende for battle (“Educating Dende”).  To make things interesting, Hallie, Robyn, and Rachel arrange a fight between Dende and Skitter two days later.  In between battle lessons, Dende and the other children attend Arturus Elementary School.  Dende meets a deaf little girl named Rebecca, who takes a liking to him.  Vegeta also attends the school to learn how to read English.  Since Skitter was such a clumsy fighter, Dende was able to defeat him.

Arturus receives two new citizens, Peter Parker and Cletus Kasady (“Carnage Forever”).  Shortly after, a monster named Carnage attacks the colony, and a new superhero arrives also.  Black Shadow decides to go out and train, and he starts by battling Carnage when the monster attacks the elementary school.  When Carnage is defeated, Cletus is sent to the asylum.  Black Shadow announces that he’ll be leaving for a while, but he’ll be back.

Even with Black Shadow gone, there is no peace on Arturus.  The colony receives yet another new citizen, Eddie Brock (“Unnecessary Justice”).  His alter-ego is a monster named Venom, who supposedly protects innocents from danger.  However, many people, including Jenny, misinterpret his purpose, and Venom hates Jenny for that.  Meanwhile, the bounty hunter Captain Falcon comes after Pico, successfully capturing him.  As Jenny battles Venom, Pico escapes from Captain Falcon’s headquarters.  During the fight, Jenny is badly injured.  So much so that Dende has to use his healing powers to save her.
